Vauville bay

Above all an eight mile sandy beach from Vauville to the cliffs of Flamanville.

Vauville

The beach can be reached by two paths: by the Crecque, name of the rock uncovered as the tide retreats, and by the the Vauville priory built on a hill behind the dunes.

Another remarakble site, the Mare de Vauville is a natural reserve. Created in 1976 this is one of 135 natural reserves in France. Managed by the Normandy Ornithological Group since 1983, it is a fresh water marsh protected from the sea by a slim line of dunes. On the Vauville lake, 62 hectares, are to be found more than 150 bird species, 350 plant species and 16 different amphibian species.

A  bird observatory is open to the public all year round. the village is one of la Hague's classified sites. Les Pierres Pouquelées, a neolithic gallery, bears witness to prehistoric times.

Biville and its dunes

This village is very poular due to the sand and dunes that surround it. It is a favourite spot for surfers.

The lack of rocks makes this place ideal for surfing. The dunes cover nearly 200 hectares. A protected site, and not surprisingly as the dunes rise to nearly 125 metres above sea level, with a magnificent view over the Vauville bay. When the air is clear the channel islands are visible from here.

Siouville Hague and Platé beaches

Long sandy beaches bordered by dunes for a perfect place for beach and sea sports. A paradise for windsurfers.
